What a load of rubbish
Now that I’ve got your attention!
Can I introduce myself? My name is Paul, a Carbeth regular I suppose, and I’ve agreed to help the fishery out with the website as well as get a competition club going.
I’m not what I’d call an expert fisherman, just a very keen amateur of 30 years experience and I guess that’s as good a start as any!
Who can really say they are an expert when there is always something to learn? When I stop learning, I’ll probably chuck it!
Over the next while I’ll be updating the site with fishing reports, a regular photo gallery and any interesting news.
I’d also like to add some articles that I hope you may find interesting and would be delighted to add any blogs that you yourself feel strongly about, just email the site.
The first one to get us going is a real pet hate of mine.
I was at the fishery through the week, a very windy cold day, with tough casting conditions, not made any easier with the amount of spent nylon and flurocarbon lying around. Both my fishing buddy big Drew and myself snagged up several times with it lying under our feet.
I spoke to Graeme about this and we’re going to get a gas burner to clear the paths etc but it begs the question, why should we have to? Take a look at these photographs:
These are some of the less distressing images I could find, as I know young folk may stumble across this site.
It takes seconds to gather and dispose of unwanted nylon properly and for that matter, the same goes for polystyrene cups, and other rubbish too.
I don’t think we all grasp how much rubbish we generate in a week.
It would help greatly if we could even consider bagging it up and taking it home for disposal.
Lets face it, most of us are happy to fling a bag o fish in the boot – and yes, in case you were wondering I did! Even in the tough conditions he boasts
– a wee Asda bag of plastic bottles and crisp packets doesn’t seem too much to ask does it?
I like to think that as anglers, we enjoy the outdoors and have a healthy respect for nature. Please let’s help the fishery by looking after it.
I’m sure you’d rather time and resources wasted on clearing up, being used in a more productive way to benefit the fishery in the long run.
Feel free to disagree but honestly…… really….. can you?
Rant over.
Remember to sign up for this months competition and I may even tell you about the secret of my success the other day
!
Paul
