Friday late fishing fest! and more big fish
Hi,
I’m pleased to announce a new fishing meet for the fishery that Darren Hosie is putting together. There have been many folk asking for late night fishing, so we’re going to give it a bash.
It’s going to be on Friday the 11th of September from nine pm to one am on the Saturday morning.
It’s a four hour FIVE fish ticket for £25.oo with special cash tagged fish to be caught on the night.
We’ll have lots of hot food and drink on the go for those who think it might be a wee bit chilly, as well as the chimera’s going and special lighting that has been installed to help you see what’s going on!
Please buy your ticket in advance at the lodge, there are a fixed number of pegs for both the bait and fly pond and we need an idea of numbers.
Now to more big fish.

Kevin is well chuffed with a personal best rainbow
I mentioned in a recent post that the fishery has managed to find a supplier willing to give us big fish.
Here’s the latest one (that I know of – remember to always email a picture and story if you net one!)
It’s a personal best for angler Kevin Foley.
Well done to him. Here’s the story of the catch, with a message to all from Kevin:
“Literally hooked into him with my last cast. I was using a goldhead damsel, retrieve was quite long and slow.
Quite a soft take, once he was hooked he ran off to the left so i followed keeping him as close into the side.
Eventually netted him after 20mins at the opposite end of the fly pond from where i hooked into him.
Weighed in at 8lb 8oz, a personal best for me and no bad going considering i’ve only been fly fishing for 5 months
”
‘No bad’ indeed!
I’m away off to the fishery to try and get into one of my own .
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Depending of course that I get one.
If I get hee haw – well, speak to you next year!
all the best and tight lines
Paul
