Carbeth Fishery is buzzing!

A really busy weekend  at the fishery with lots of familes enjoying a day out. It also featured our first ‘Fluff Chuckers’ competition, more of which later.

There are quite a few photographs added to the photogallery so take a look.

A nice wee picnic going on and I hope that's orange juice girls!

Lets tell you a bit about the story of this weekend and some fishing report type news into the bargain.

A young man called Euan celebrated his tenth birthday at the fishery with family and friends.

You can see by the photo here that the mums had a full spread laid out in one of the shelters.

To be fair the mum’s were also probably trying to keep away from any wee crawlies and bait too!

The party went well and there was even three fish caught, which was great in tough conditions with bright sunshine.

It seemed that most of the fish caught on the bait pond were  off the bottom.

Alistair Cairns on the right here did extremely well to  catch his limit , one on maggot the other three on power bait.

The fly pond was proving a challenge too with the bright sun but there were still steady catches.

On this morning’s competition buzzers were the order of the day fished ‘pimp’ style, hench the ‘buzzing’ in the headline of this blog. Sorry.

The sun must have been getting to me.

I’m also in a huff.

Why?

Well I tied a number of buzzers for the shop last night and forgot to keep any for myself, much to the delight of eventual winner Alan Martin and one of the runners-up Steven Divers who nabbed the lot.
Steven caught 4 on my wee green and white creations while Alan tried to spare my feelings by saying he only caught the one on it. The other four fish he got - well who knows.

Fishing’s not just about catching fish right?

How many did I catch?

This is one of the occasions in life when that’s not important right now.

Lets just say that my bud to the right, Joe Douglas has know nick-named me ‘Jonah’. And it wasn’t because I bent into a whale of a trout.

A wee black buzzer did the trick here

One man who did though was Billy Hendry.

A nice 10lb 7 oz rainbow on a wee black buzzer.

The only real shame of the day was that Billy arrived too late for the competition.

And the rest of the competitors were just as noble with their sympathy.

So to the  final results:

Winner most fish – Alan ‘Flash’ Martin – 5 fish ( 3 fish for 7lbs)

Winner heaviest bag and biggest fish – Arthur Wood 4 fish (3 for 7lbs 8oz), heaviest fish 3lb

Winner next heaviest bag - Steven Divers  4 fish ( 3 for 7lbs)

As for the rest, well it was nice out eh guys?

The next fluff chuckers will be on Sunday 31st May at 9 am please let me know if you’d like to take part, you’d be most welcome.

I’m also looking for a measure of interest if any of our bait anglers would be up for a bait competition on the same day. Please email enquires@carbethfishery.com if you would like one.

Tightest of lines to you all

Paul

Well with these fine comments i just had to reply, today i just wanted to give you guys a chance ( lmao) and my new fullin mill line never got streched but it wasnt for the want of trying. But to my defence i did have paul beside me not only did he give him and his partners in crime an hour start ahead of me,between me and him we could have knitted jumpers for all entrants today with the amount of fluff we drowned lol. All i can say it was just one of these days but its Pauls fault.

Anyways to be serious well done to the winners and tight lines to all , and dont you be giving the opposition any flies Paul, looking forward to the next one
