A nice response…..thank you!

I mentioned in my last blog that I’d be delighted to hear any stories of your visits to the fishery and to even include some photos.

Lets be honest, it cuts down the amount of prattle that I have to come up with and its genuinely good to get feedback – for good and for bad!

If you’ve been up to the fishery recently you’ll have seen some of the improvements and maintenance being down. Its a lot of work, but well worth it and we’re always keen to hear your views.

So enough from me (for the moment) and lets hear from three of the responses I’ve had in the past week:

It wasn't me who cut poor Gregor's napper off! Still he looks happy enough!

Hi ,

Please find attached a couple of pics of my 13 year old nephew Gregor Bruce from Doune after his first ever trout.

His 4 fish weighecd in at 11lb 2oz and as you can see he is delighted with his catch from your fishery.

You've got to admit, he looks the part...

These were caught on the morning of the 12th of October and he is already wanting to come back with me ,his uncle.

I know he would get a huge buzz from seeing his pic on your website news and hope you will get great publicity too.

Thanks Iain McGregor

Iain, it’s always a genuine pleasure to see new anglers doing so well. Thanks again for taking the time to email in.

I was also lucky enough to be at the fishery when our next story happened and, like before, I’m delighted to let the people involved tell it like it was:

Hi There, Just following up on our fishing trip with you on Saturday, we had a great day (as you know) especially when Hayden caught his first fish.hayden_firstfish

Hayden Frame and his family were over from Brisbane, Australia, on holiday.

One of Hayden’s wishes for his holiday was to catch his first fish.

Back in Brisbane Hayden had been unlucky so far, coarse fishing in the Australian waters, however boy did his luck change on his fishing trip to Carbeth!

Once you have this on the web could you let us know so Hayden can show his school mates back in Brisbane as they are just learning computers at the moment and this would be a great scoop for him :)
Regards

Allan Frame (Uncle)

Thanks again to you Allan.
It was a memorable moment made all the more so by the fact that Hayden was remarkably unfazed by the whole thing and took it in his stride.
I hope he doesn’t think that all trout are that size!
Our last contribution comes from someone who (I hope he won’t mind saying) is slightly older than our first two lads:

Hi there

I would like to send you these photo’s that were taken on Thursday 8.10.09 .

I caught 3 Trout 1 at 6lb 2 at 3lb.

All 3 fish were caught on the floating beetle on a floating line and Ihad a great afternoons fishing.

Fished it for the last 10 years and always managed to catch a fish fully recommend it to anyone not yet tried it.

Thanks once again for that email and photograph Alex.
So there you have it. It’s as easy as sending a quick email and attaching a photograph.
You don’t even have to send a photo. If it’s just a story or something that gave you a good laugh, or even dare I say it something that you’re NOT happy with, we’d still be delighted to hear from you.
Just one last wee thing for this weeks post:
I’m going to get serious for a bit and say that we want to ‘formalise’ the Maggot Dookers and Fluff Chuckers club.
I’d like to find proper, sensible, office bearers who would be interested in helping me out i.e.
Club president, Club secretary, Club treasurer, Junior’s convenor, Seniors convenor, as well as other ordinary members of the committee as needed .
As mentioned many times before, the club is not to make a profit for the fishery.
It’s a seperate thing altogether, run by the members, for the members, and having the main aim to maintain and promote trout angling in all its legal forms to anyone who wants to learn more in a safe, friendly group.
I’d especially like to get a juniors section going as well as fly-tying nights for beginners and improvers.
If you would like any further information, please do get in touch.
I’m away to tie up one o’ them wee black beetles that Alex used to try an lean into one of the big fish!
Till then, as ever,
‘Tight lines an ‘no uppa tree!’
Paul
