A new season – a new price structure

Hi all, and a happy new season to you all.

First post in a wee while and it’s perhaps not necessarily the one you want to see!

The simple facts of the matter are that for years now fish prices have steadily increased as have running costs.  Despite this, the fishery owners have done their level best to maintain the status quo.

In in fact can’t remember a price increase in the years that Wendy and Graeme have taken over.

I can also tell you that a great deal of soul searching and thought has gone into this, as  they know that it is tough for everyone at the moment.

In saying that then, the prices have only been increased only very very slightly – most cases by only £1. We have also added value by introducing a new 6 hour permit which gives you longer to catch your fish! And the cost of the eight hour permits for bait fishing have actually gone down, (with a single reduction in bag limit).

We mean what we say about fish costs forcing the increase – so there is no increase at all for those who opt for fly fishing on a catch and release basis. And so these folk don’t feel left out, there’s a new 6 hour ticket for them too.

The popular 2 hour catch and release ticket for just £8 remains for those who only want a short spell after work (i.e. after 5pm only).

The entire picture for the new price structure is here:

So welcome to another season at Carbeth fishery, although for us the season never really closed!

I myself managed a couple of really pleasant hours with Sammy and my son Jack on Saturday, and despite my gammy leg, managed to interest a trout or two.
Sammy, as usual, had a field day and I lost count of the fish he returned, including a really nice blue trout.

Remember that even though the brown trout season is open, we like to return them if possible.

You can look forward to a number of new competitions and events in the coming year and I’m finally going to get the fly tying classes going for those who fancy it. Details will be posted shortly.

Remember your ideas and comments are always welcome, just use the box on the page here, or email enquires@carbethfishery.com

Hope to see you over the coming weeks and months.

As ever,

The tightest of lines – and no’ uppa tree!

Paul
